Shocky Media ("we," "us," or "our") builds Where Did I Leave That? and other iOS apps. This policy explains what information our apps collect, how it's used, and the choices you have. It applies to Where Did I Leave That? and will be updated to cover future Shocky Media products as they launch.
The short version
Information we collect
Where Did I Leave That? is designed to collect as little as possible:
- Content you save. Item names, notes, photos, and locations you choose to log — including GPS coordinates if you attach a location — are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
- Secure Vault contents. Items you place in Secure Vault are stored the same way, behind an additional authentication step (Face ID, Touch ID, or your Vault password).
- iCloud sync data. If you enable iCloud Sync & Backup as a Premium feature, your saved items are synced through Apple's CloudKit into your own private iCloud account — not a Shocky Media server.
- Purchase information. Premium subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We don't receive or store your payment details; Apple shares only what's needed to confirm your subscription status.
We do not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, or location data in the background. We don't have user accounts, and we don't operate servers that store your content.
How we use information
Because your content stays on your device or in your own iCloud account, we don't "use" it in the way a company with a server would. The app uses it only to:
- Show you the items you've saved, and let you search or organize them.
- Sync your data across your own devices, if you turn on iCloud Sync.
- Verify your Premium subscription status through Apple.
Third-party services
Where Did I Leave That? relies on a small number of Apple frameworks to function:
- Apple CloudKit — for optional iCloud sync, governed by Apple's own privacy practices for iCloud.
- Apple StoreKit — for processing Premium subscription purchases and renewals.
- Face ID / Touch ID — handled entirely by iOS; we never receive your biometric data itself, only a yes/no confirmation that authentication succeeded.
We don't share data with advertising networks, analytics companies, or any other third party, because we don't collect data to share in the first place.
Your choices and control
- Delete anytime. You can delete individual items from within the app, or clear all data from Settings.
- Turn off sync. Disabling iCloud Sync stops new data from syncing; you can also manage what's stored in iCloud from your device's iCloud settings.
- Uninstall. Deleting the app removes locally stored data from that device. If you had iCloud Sync on, your data remains in your iCloud account until you remove it there too.
- Vault recovery. Because we can't see the contents of your Secure Vault, we also can't recover a forgotten Vault password on your behalf — use the in-app recovery option.
Children's privacy
Where Did I Leave That? is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from children. Since we don't collect personal data on our own servers to begin with, there's no server-side data to hold about anyone, including children.
Data retention
We don't retain your content ourselves — it lives on your device and, optionally, in your own iCloud account, for as long as you choose to keep it there.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
